Life is a series of doors.
We’re off to #Japan in October, and while researching places to visit, I came across the beautiful Nezu Shrine in #Tokyo.
Its pathway of red torii gates got me thinking about all the doors we walk through in life.
Birth. Childhood. Teenage years. Student. Career. Marriage. Family. Success. Failure. Celebration. Sadness. Retirement. And ultimately, passing on.
Some doors we choose.
Some are opened for us.
Some close before we’re ready.
And some lead us somewhere we never imagined.
When we’re young, we ask:
“What door will open for me next?”
As we get older, perhaps the more important question becomes:
“What doors can I open for others?”
An introduction. An opportunity. A friendship. A helping hand. A second chance.
Because maybe that’s legacy:
Not the doors we walked through.
The doors we opened for others.
Can’t wait to walk through the gates of Nezu Shrine in October.
