I was privileged to represent Referron at the premier of Life Could Be A Dream this week — a powerful film shining a light on family violence and coercive control.
I am also so proud of my daughter, Heidi Kaye, (who designed the Referron logo (13 years ago )) who played a small part in the making of the film as an associate producer .
What makes this film so important is that it challenges one of society’s biggest misconceptions:
Family violence and coercive control do not only exist in disadvantaged environments.
They can exist behind beautiful homes, successful careers, influential networks, and privileged lifestyles.
From the outside, everything can appear “perfect.”
But behind closed doors, manipulation, fear, isolation, emotional control, financial dependency, and psychological abuse can quietly destroy lives.
That is why this film matters.
And that is why conversations like this matter.
As a platform built around connection, relationships, referrals, and community, Referron believes human connection should never just be transactional.
Technology should not only help people grow business networks —
it should help strengthen human networks.
Because community is not measured by how many people you know.
It is measured by whether people feel safe, supported, seen, and heard.
Too often, coercive control survives because people feel isolated.
They feel nobody will believe them.
Or worse — they feel trapped maintaining appearances.
Films like Life Could Be A Dream help break that silence.
They create awareness.
They create empathy.
And most importantly, they create conversations people may otherwise never have.
At Referron, we often talk about the power of warm introductions and trusted relationships.
But trust also comes with responsibility.
Real communities look out for each other.
Real leaders create environments where people feel included, respected, and safe to speak.
And real networks are not only built to exchange opportunities —
they are built to support people through life itself.
Supporting projects like Life Could Be A Dream aligns deeply with what Referron stands for:
- Connection
- Collaboration
- Contribution
- Continuity
- Community
The 5Cs are not just business principles.
They are human principles.
Congratulations to the filmmakers, producers, cast, crew, and everyone involved in bringing this important story to life.
This is more than a movie.
It is a conversation society needs to keep having.
And in our view — it is a must-watch for business leaders, families, educators, communities, and anyone who believes relationships should be built on respect, not control.
