Sure but let’s not let a good fiscal management in the way of government elected terms. </div><div><br></div><div>But what does this mean for our startup sector? Well if you raised during the bubble well done, hopefully you raised enough to give you another 24-30 mths of runway. If you didn’t, and you find yourself going to the well again in the next 12 months, be prepared for down-rounds. Valuations have dropped, from Meta and Stipe through to startups.</div><div><br></div><div>Is it all bad? Not necessarily, it’s a normalisation of the market and valuations but I do worry about the 2021 and 2022 investment vintages, returns are going to be a real challenge for them.</div><div><br></div><blockquote>Cash is king </blockquote><div><br></div><div>So what now? What do VCs like Mandalay Venture Partners look for in a deal? Well for starters you better be sure to be raising for 18 months or more, preferably 24 to see you through the current period. Austerity means slowing growth, managing burn and understanding the all important ‘burn multiple’. </div><div><br></div><blockquote>Growth for growth sake is no longer the metric, it’s now efficiency of growth that will make you stand out. </blockquote><div><br></div><div>If you’re a founder you best get your head around the concept of ‘burn multiple’ really fast. Investors will be looking at your spend (burn) vs your revenue and doing back-of-the-napkin assessments to ascertain how sustainable your business is going to be. </div><div><br></div><div>So when raising Seed to Series-A and beyond, consider the following:</div><div><br></div><div>👍🏼18 months runway is ok, 24 months is better </div><div>👍🏼cap salaries and remunerate via ESOPs that can reduce burn </div><div>👍🏼if new markets are exceeding a burn multiple of 3-4, reconsider for now</div><div>👍🏼managed growth is ok, cash is king</div><div>👍🏼mark to market regularly </div><div><br></div><div>This is not the environment you want to be raising in twice in the same 18 months. Money is going to get tighter as interest rates continue to rise to curb inflation. Remember this is the biggest tip of all, no one wants to hear someone stumble through their presentation. </div><div> </div><div>2, Know your audience, taking the time to understand your audience mindset can completely change how you deliver your message.</div><div> </div><div>3, Start with a great introduction, first impressions count be sure to kick off your presentation with a good start. </div><div> </div><div>4, A picture speaks a thousand words, your presentation could include a video, a slide show, graphs.</div><div> </div><div>5, Have the right tools to present, be sure to have all the features you need if you were presenting off your laptop, or an interactive screen, having the most updated equipment could make all the difference.</div><div> </div><div>6, Tell a story, if need be, sometimes it’s easier to retell an experience this will capture your audience better than memorizing. </div><div> </div><div>7, Allow time for questions. Questions are a good sign that your audience has been paying attention, but they also give the audience an opportunity to raise issues or clarify your explanations</div><div> </div><div>Remember to know what to say is just the message but how you say it and deliver is the presentation and that could make all the difference.</div><div><br></div><div>www.mitronics.com.au</div><div>Ph: 1300 207 122</div><div>Mitronics Corporation</div></div>Ivan Kayehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10795511825904316044noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6872349765269408157.post-57902505064844322502021-12-06T19:01:00.006-08:002021-12-06T19:08:28.210-08:00Karen Tisdell's #linkedinforum with #BBG<br />

The old saying — which isn’t actually true but illustrates a useful concept nonetheless — tells us that a frog thrown into already-boiling water will jump out, while one placed into a pot full of water that slowly warms to its boiling point will never try to escape. As the climate warms, we will get used to a hotter, more dangerous, and less vibrant planet. Our complacency will make it difficult for us to act. The diminished world we live in will simply seem normal to us. I noticed a small boy, delicate of bone and feature, ragged but clean, hungrily appraising a basket of freshly picked green peas.</div><div> </div><div>I paid for my potatoes but was also drawn to the display of fresh green peas. I am a pushover for creamed peas and new potatoes.</div><div><br></div><div>Pondering the peas, I couldn't help overhearing the conversation between Mr. Miller (the store owner) and the ragged boy next to me.</div><div><br></div><div>'Hello Barry, how are you today?'</div><div><br></div><div>'H'lo, Mr. Miller. Fine, thank ya. Jus' admirin' them peas. They sure look good'.</div><div><br></div><div>'They are good, Barry. How's your Ma?' </div><div>'Fine. Gittin' stronger alla' time.' </div><div>'Good. Anything I can help you with?' </div><div>'No, Sir. Jus' admirin' them peas.' </div><div>'Would you like to take some home?' asked Mr. Miller. </div><div><br></div><div>'No, Sir. Got nuthin' to pay for 'em with.'</div><div> </div><div>'Well, what have you to trade me for some of those peas?'</div><div> </div><div>'All I got's my prize marble here.'</div><div><br></div><div>'Is that right? Let me see it', said Miller.</div><div><br></div><div>'Here 'tis. She's a dandy.' </div><div><br></div><div>'I can see that. Hmm mmm, only thing is this one is blue and I sort of go for red. Do you have a red one like this at home?' the store owner asked.</div><div><br></div><div>'Not zackley but almost.'</div><div> </div><div>'Tell you what. Take this sack of peas home with you and next trip this way let me look at that red marble'. Mr. Miller told the boy.</div><div> </div><div>'Sure will. Thanks Mr. Miller.'</div><div> </div><div>Mrs. Miller, who had been standing nearby, came over to help me.</div><div> </div><div>With a smile she said, 'There are two other boys like him in our community, all three are in very poor circumstances. Jim just loves to bargain with them for peas, apples, tomatoes, or whatever.</div><div><br></div><div>When they come back with their red marbles, and they always do, he decides he doesn't like red after all and he sends them home with a bag of produce for a green marble or an orange one, when they come on their next trip to the store.' </div><div><br></div><div>I left the store smiling to myself, impressed with this man. A short time later I moved to Colorado , but I never forgot the story of this man, the boys, and their bartering for marbles. </div><div><br></div><div>Several years went by, each more rapid than the previous one. Just recently I had occasion to visit some old friends in that Idaho community and while I was there learned that Mr. Miller had died. They were having his visitation that evening and knowing my friends wanted to go, I agreed to accompany them. Upon arrival at the mortuary we fell into line to meet the relatives of the deceased and to offer whatever words of comfort we could.</div><div><br></div><div>Ahead of us in line were three young men. One was in an army uniform and the other two wore nice haircuts, dark suits and white shirts...all very professional looking. They approached Mrs. Miller, standing composed and smiling by her husband's casket. </div><div><br></div><div>Each of the young men hugged her, kissed her on the cheek, spoke briefly with her and moved on to the casket. Her misty light blue eyes followed them as, one by one; each young man stopped briefly and placed his own warm hand over the cold pale hand in the casket. Each left the mortuary awkwardly, wiping his eyes. </div><div><br></div><div>Our turn came to meet Mrs. Miller. I told her who I was and reminded her of the story from those many years ago and what she had told me about her husband's bartering for marbles. With her eyes glistening, she took my hand and led me to the casket.</div><div> </div><div>'Those three young men who just left were the boys I told you about.</div><div> </div><div>They just told me how they appreciated the things Jim 'traded' them. Now, at last, when Jim could not change his mind about colour or size....they came to pay their debt.'</div><div><br></div><div>'We've never had a great deal of the wealth of this world,' she confided, 'but right now, Jim would consider himself the richest man in Idaho ...' </div><div><br></div><div>With loving gentleness she lifted the lifeless fingers of her deceased husband. Resting underneath were three exquisitely shined red marbles.</div><div> </div><div>The Moral : </div><div>We will not be remembered by our words, but by our kind deeds. Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath.</div><div><br></div><div>Today I wish you a day of ordinary miracles ~ A fresh pot of coffee you didn't make yourself...</div><div><br></div><div>An unexpected phone call from an old friend.... Green stoplights on your way to work....</div><div><br></div><div>The fastest line at the grocery store.... </div><div><br></div><div>A good sing-along song on the radio.. </div><div><br></div><div>Your keys found right where you left them.</div><div><br></div><div>Sinking a 20 foot putt </div><div> </div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div>*IT'S NOT WHAT YOU GATHER, BUT WHAT YOU SCATTER THAT TELLS WHAT KIND OF LIFE YOU HAVE LIVED!*</div> Ivan Kayehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10795511825904316044noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6872349765269408157.post-19367286667772528802021-10-07T15:11:00.001-07:002021-10-07T15:11:21.209-07:00Tony Gattari shares the 5 types of salesman - which are the best and why! <div><img id="id_d37b_de4c_d755_dcfd" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/csS3rMqtZEULNs3Jrzz-KI4pbatE-GaMisGny_xg1e3WDMldnuXs7wa4X6Bs7Jjdd-M" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 392px; height: auto;"><br><br><br></div><div><p class="p1" style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;"><span class="s1" style="font-size: 16px;">Which kind of sales people perform best </span></p><p class="p2" style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 19.1px; -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;"><span class="s1" style="font-size: 16px;"></span><br></p><ul class="ul1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;"><li class="li1" style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; font-size: 16px; line-height: normal;"><span class="s1">Hard Worker - doesn’t give up </span></li><li class="li1" style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; font-size: 16px; line-height: normal;"><span class="s1">Challenger - different view - loves to debate - pushes customer</span></li><li class="li1" style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; font-size: 16px; line-height: normal;"><span class="s1">Relationship Builder - builds advocates - over services </span></li><li class="li1" style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; font-size: 16px; line-height: normal;"><span class="s1">Lone wolf - follows instincts - self assured </span></li><li class="li1" style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; font-size: 16px; line-height: normal;"><span class="s1">Reactive Problem solver - responds and is detailed oriented </span></li></ul><p class="p2" style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 19.1px; -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;"><span class="s1" style="font-size: 16px;"></span><br></p><blockquote><span class="s1" style="font-size: 16px;">If you chose relationship builder - </span><span style="font-size: 16px; -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;">In complex sales - you would be broke - </span></blockquote><p class="p2" style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 19.1px; -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;"><span class="s1" style="font-size: 16px;"></span><br></p><h3><span class="s1" style="font-size: 16px;">The best performers in Complex Sales says Tony Gattari - </span><span style="font-size: 16px;">1.
